The White Six
Four Chardonnays that taste nothing like each other.
That's the whole idea. Mer Soleil Silver never touches oak — fermented in steel and concrete, it comes out crisp, citrusy and sharp. Bread & Butter goes the opposite way: vanilla, almond, creamy enough to drink on its own. Wente Morning Fog sits between them with green apple and a whisper of toast. And J. Lohr Riverstone is the properly buttery one — peach, lemon curd, made for roast chicken.
Then two that aren't Chardonnay at all. Decoy Sauvignon Blanc, all grapefruit and lime and lemongrass. And Conundrum, four grapes that shouldn't work together and somehow do — apricot, mango, a bit of honeysuckle.
Six bottles, none over $30. For patios, seafood, long evenings, and anyone who reckons they don't like Chardonnay.
