Introduction:
Vina Chocalan Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is a robust red wine from the Coastal Maipo Valley, near the Maipo River. This wine is crafted from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Carmenere (10%), and Petit Verdot (5%), showcasing the unique terroir of granitic clays and loam. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, which gives it a rich depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Deep, dark red
Aroma: Aromas of ripe black cherry, herbal branch, and roasted root vegetables
Flavour: Firm and dense with notes of espresso, medicinal herbs, and a hint of bitter cherry/coffee
Finish: Smooth, yet rustic tannins with a lingering finish of black cherry and coffee
Food Pairing Suggestions:
This wine pairs excellently with grilled beef, barbecued meats, or hearty stews. To complement its bold flavors, try it with aged cheeses or roasted meats. For those who prefer a smoother experience, consider cellaring for a year or two to soften the wine further.
